Being a person who grew up with migraines, it is one thing that you wish you did not have in your childhood. I have missed many fun activities due to the on-coming migraine. The results are ugly. Anything from going blind from one side, to throwing up, I have seen the ugly side indeed. This is why after much trial and error, I have put together a concise list of 3 migraine remedies for long-lasting relief.

The first one on my 3 migraine remedies for long-lasting relief, is Q10. I started taking Q10 about a decade ago. It is NOT a pain killer. It is a supplement, which allows you to control and reduce the number of migraines that you usually experience. Or in exact words, it is an antioxidant which reduces the on-set of migraines.

That said, do not expect a miracle. You need to consistently take this supplement for at least 3 months to see its effect. The Q10 that I use is this one.

However, be sure to discuss your supplements with your doctor. It is indicated that these supplements impact the absorption of Statin medication. Or, discuss it with your pharmacist.

Note: This supplement uses Bovine gelatin.

Second on my list of 3 migraine remedies for long-lasting relief, is a heating pad. Yes, you read it right.

I have found, that by keeping a heating pad on my neck, when the migraine starts, is a sure way to soothe my muscles, and relax my nerves. This technique is not possible with a regular hot water bottle. That is why I have invested in a microwavable heating pad, which is ready within a minute.

According to; “Heat stimulates nerve endings called thermoreceptors, which may block the pain signals from that area to the brain. Heat therapy also increases blood flow to the area and relaxes muscles”

I rely on my heating pad a lot, and keep it also every time I travel. You can get the one I have here.

If you have not tried essential oils, you have really been missing a trend. Truth be told, I was skeptical of essential oils as well. It was only when I walked into a Saje store, that I discovered the joy of aromatherapy and essential oils!

My go to essential oil is the Peppermint Halo, which is available as a single roll on, or, as part of various remedy kits from Saje.

The Peppermint Halo works wonderfully to stop migraines, without taking chemical painkillers. I swear by this! Especially during fasting in Ramadan, when my migraines were triggered often, and only thing that helped was this oil.
