The Jeddah I know… from my eyes , for yours. I have spend 30 + years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This was mainly due to my parents moving to the land of Oil, for a brighter future in early 80’s. My brought up, schooling and childhood memories were fired in the city of Jeddah; a city named to as the Bride of the Red Sea. Having spent most of my life there, I consider it as my home town. 20 years back, the definition of home town and nationality was more accurate based on which city you are born in, and what color is yourRead More →

Think Arabia… imagine dates, kahwa , exotic dishes, roasted lambs. What one does not imagine is Fried Chicken! Al Baik , has taken the lead in the Makkah region, by serving fried chicken with a tangy Garlic Sauce, for over two decades. I grew up with memories of us buying a box of Al-Baik, which would have half of a chicken, lumpy fries and a bun, with Garlic sauce.. and driving to the sea side for an instant picnic. Anyone visiting us for Umrah would surelyΒ be treated to this food of the land, and told.. No Al Baik means.. No pilgrimage is complete (Just JokingRead More →

Mado ; A guest review on Jeddahfood.com Γ’β‚¬ΛœMadoÒ€ℒ, renowned for its ice cream and bakery products in Turkey has arrived in Jeddah. Located on Prince Sultan Street, friendly staff welcomed me on arrival. Inside is a quite spacious hall, with the bakery section positioned at the front of the store. On your right is an assortment of chocolates, and on your left the ice cream β€˜Dondurma’ station, for which Mado is famous for! Walking further inside, we noticed the large oven, with a showcase of fresh bakery items, ranging from the usual croissant to potato filled baked dough. Here a menu is also available fromRead More →
